The North West Labrador Retriever Club Puppy Register
The NWLRC’s Puppy Register is a list of puppies for sale, bred by members of the Club, who fulfil a set of criteria relating to good breeding practice, specified by the Club, the aim being to try to support responsible, caring breeders, eliminate excessive/over breeding, and by providing a single, well publicised telephone number as a contact (see below), to facilitate access to “properly” bred and reared puppies, by members of the public seeking to buy a Labrador puppy.
The conditions for inclusion on the NWLRC register are membership of the club, both parents of the litter to have been hip-scored and to hold current clear eye certificates, and an agreement to abide by the following criteria:-
- To keep in mind at all times the Breed Standard.
- To sell puppies/stock directly to the new owner only, and not to a dealer.
- To provide the purchaser with a written comprehensive diet sheet.
- To ensure that puppies are wormed, and provide information to the purchaser regarding further worming.
- To provide the purchaser with a written fact sheet on basic rearing/training and vaccination/immunity.
- To provide a full "back-up service", i.e. to be available to give help and advice.
- To promise to take back or to help re-home whenever necessary, and at any age.
- To keep a record of names and addresses of all purchasers.
- To K.C. Register all puppies and to provide a minimum of three generation pedigree at the time of sale. In the case of a defect in the puppy, it will be acceptable to sell a puppy without papers, and endorsements will also be accepted.
- To hip score and eye test all breeding stock, and to supply the purchaser with details of the hip and eye status of the parents of the puppy.
- To ensure the best possible care, including veterinary attention if necessary, to all breeding stock and puppies.
However, inclusion on the list is not a guarantee by the Club, and prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves as to the quality of the puppy. A puppy should be seen with its mother.
For the latest details of puppies available, please check the list of available puppies.
If you are a member of the Club, and have a litter of puppies that you would like to place on the register, subject to you fulfilling the above criteria, you can do so by completing an application form, available from the Puppy Register Co-ordinator (or by clicking here) and returning it, with appropriate enclosures.
A charge of £10.00 per litter is made, which includes a copy of the Club's "Puppy Pack", further copies of which may be purchased at £4.50 each, if you require any to pass on to your puppies' new owners, (all cheques payable to North West Labrador Retriever Club).
