The Dogslife Project
The Dogslife project was launched on the 1st July 2010, to find out more about what keeps Labrador Retrievers healthy. The project is the first internet-based nationwide longitudinal study of canine health anywhere in the world. Labrador Retriever owners across the UK are logging into the website at monthly intervals, to report on their dogs’ health, what they eat, how much exercise they do, and how they look after them. So far over 4000 people have visited the website, providing information about the health and lifestyle of nearly 700 individual Labrador Retriever puppies. The information provided will be used to identify the factors which keep Labrador Retrievers healthy, so that we can use scientific evidence to inform dog owners on the best way to look after their pets and reduce the frequency of diseases.
Over the next year the data collected will be analyzed, and the initial results released to participants. Whether your dog is a pet, a show dog or a working dog, we want to hear from you. Dogslife will be recruiting new participants until June 2012, and you can register your Labrador Retriever providing they were born after 1st January 2010 and are registered with the Kennel Club. Dogslife is free, and by joining the project you could:
Win prizes for your dog
See how your dog develops compared to others in the study
Create an online scrapbook of your dog’s photos
If you are already participating, or have helped promote and support the project, the Dogslife team would like to thank you all
