NWLRC AGM 2010 NOTICE

NOTICE - 22 February 2010
The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Club will be held at ST. JOSEPH`S PARISH CENTRE, HARPERS LANE, CHORLEY, LANCS. PR6 0HR.
MONDAY 22 MARCH 2010 AT 7-30pm.
Directions:- From the M61 junction 8 take the A6 towards Chorley, Hospital on right, next roundabout (B & Q on left) left onto the B6229, then at the 2nd roundabout (Aldi sign on left) go left (two roundabouts only yards apart) St Joseph’s Church and Parish Centre are on the left hand side past the speed camera.
Nominations for the election of Officers and Committee members for 2010/2011 should be in writing and should reach the Hon. Secretary by noon on the 15th March 2010. The written consent of the nominee must be obtained. All nominees, proposers and seconders must be fully paid up members of the Club. Nomination forms are available from the Hon. Secretary or available by downloading a nomination form . It is desirable that any person standing should forward to the Hon. Secretary a brief resume of their experience /skills they are able to bring to the club, (approx. 50 words), copies of which will be distributed with the ballot papers, for the benefit of members.
Since the AGM in 2009 there have been 8 Committee Meetings.
The Chairman attended 8, the Hon. Sec 8, and the Hon. Treasurer 8.

The Officers and one third of the Committee must retire annually and can offer themselves for re-election. The Chairman, Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer have expressed their willingness to stand again.
The following members are due to retire from the Committee. Miss N. Bilsland, Mrs. J. Dobson, Miss G. Oulton and Mrs. K. Smalley. Mrs. P. Mott resigned from the Committee in February 2010 and Mrs. K. Smalley will not be standing again, but the others have offered themselves for re election.
Field Trial Sub Committee
The Hon. Field Trial Secretary Mrs. B. Drury has decided not to stand for re election. Hon. Working Test Secretary, Mrs. J. White offers herself for re election.

The following members of this sub committee are due for re election. Mr. J. Benyon, Mrs. M. Crawford, Mr. J. Drury, Mr. D. Jackson, Mr. D. Newton. Mr I. Wareing has resigned and Mr D. Newton and Mr R. Haworth are not standing again, all the others have expressed their willingness to stand again.
Please note the same criteria apply as for the General Committee, regarding nomination dates, etc.
Any items for the agenda must be in the hands of the Hon. Secretary, in writing, proposed and seconded by fully paid up members, no later than noon on the 15th March 2010.
Subscriptions for 2010 are now overdue.
Only fully paid up members are entitled to attend the AGM, to make nominations, to stand for election or to vote thereat. If you have not already paid, please send your subscriptions to the Hon. Treasurer (address above) ensuring you send the up to date amount (£10 Single member and £12 Joint member). Standing Order mandates are available from the Treasurer or can be downloaded from our web site.
NOTE: SUBSCRIPTIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY OF THE AGM
PLEASE NOTE To save expense on printing, etc., the Chairman’s Report and the Annual Accounts are printed in Otter Tales – enclosed herewith.

The Sheila Saunt Memorial Trophy 2010
This is the NWLRC's annual points challenge. Open to all members.
(1 point is awarded to every exhibit for each class entered (and present), and 5 for each class winner down to1 for VHC place).
At the Club's recent Limit Show the following dogs (click on "Read more") achieved 6 or more points, and are the current leaders for the Sheila Saunt Memorial Trophy.
Points can be won at the Open and Championship Shows later this year.

The Sheila Saunt Memorial Trophy
The final
results for The Sheila Saunt Memorial Trophy, our 2009 annual points challenge,
have now been worked out following the recent Championship Show, and are as
follows in the "Read More" link below.
Many Congratulations to the winner,
Michael and Pauline Mitchell's Sharouns Ganymede at Stelmarin, and to all the
other front runners.
The presentation of the trophy will take
place at the A.G.M., and we will be running the points challenge again next
year.

Breed Standard Changes
The Kennel Club has announced a change to the Breed Standard as reported in the October edition of the Kennel Gazette on page 63 following a meeting if the General Committee of the Kennel Club held on 1 September 2009.

Fit for Function - Fit for Life
The NWLRC wishes to bring to your attention a notice affecting all future Championship Judges who are not yet approved by the Kennel Club.
The Kennel Club requires that the process of qualification shall include attendance at a Field Trial at Open Stake level or above or a Gundog Working Test at Open level or above for the relevant sub group they wish to be considered to award KC CC's for the first time.

NWLRC Eye Clinic 2010
NWLRC Eye Clinic
The NWLRC is please to announce that we have arranged for another Eye Clinic to be held on Thursday 5th August 2010 following the high demand and success of this years clinic. It is planned to be held at St. Joseph's Parish Centre, Harpers Lane, Chorley between 2pm and 6pm. (note the times are provisional at present, and, all appointments must be booked in advance to ensure everyone is seen).
Microchipping will be available for anyone who wishes to have this done which is essential first step if you require a pet passport (other requirements are needed see
defra for details). It is worth noting that a microchip or tattoo will be mandatory from 1st January 2010 for the BVA/KC schemes.

Labrador Breed Standard
The Kennel Club revised the Breed Standard in January this year and has asked for consultation from Breed Clubs, Breed Council, Breeders and Owners. It is now up to you, as members of the club, as owners of Labradors, you need to consider the changes that have been drafted.

Kennel Club Rule Changes
The Kennel Club changed the Canine Health and Welfare Regulations following the monitoring of the judging of breeds considered to affected by potentially significant health issues. The rules affected are F(1) 16, F(1) 15 and F(1) 21n.

Kennel Club - New Code of Ethics
The Kennel Club has released a new code of ethics that all breed clubs are required to adopt without delay. As this is a Kennel Club directive, the NWLRC does not need to call an EGM or AGM in order to agree and adopt this new code. It is a requirement that this is adopted immediately and as such it will become a requirement of all club members to be bound by this mandate.

Requirements of a Dog Show Judge Seminar on Sunday 9th June 2008. The
course leader is a Mrs. Yvonne Billow who is an Accredited Trainer for the
Kennel Club.
