Newsletter Field Trials 2014
Please find enclosed the schedule, rules and regulations, health and safety information for the four Field Trials the club is holding for the 2013 season.
The club is deeply indebted to our hosts and guns for their generosity in allowing us to hold field trials on their land; to our sponsors Skinners. The generosity of these supporters is greatly valued and enables us to enjoy our sport.
NWLRC was very fortunate in 2013 to be able to hold the Open trial at Bolton Abbey. This year we are looking forward to returning to Hoghton Tower after a three-year absence by kind permission of Sir Bernard de Hoghton and the Estate Syndicate Guns and Gamekeeper, Lee Redfern.
Regrettably this year it has been necessary to increase entry fees. The cost of putting on a trial has increased over the years (like everything else). The main culprit has been travelling expenses. Entry fees for members are now Open – £45, Novice and All-Aged £35. Non-members Open £65, Novice and All-Aged £45.
Any prizes or gifts for the raffle will be greatly appreciated, or if you wish to help at any of the trials just contact me or any field trial subcommittee member. There is always plenty to do and never enough people to do it. I have to rely on the same willing helpers all the time – why not give them a break? You never know, you might enjoy it!!
We have a “Special Raffle” this year and tickets will be on sale at all trials £1 each. Mr & Mrs Winstanley of Trekkers Gundogs who already sponsor our regular raffles, have generously donated a framed limited edition print of pheasants flying in a winter landscape. The Artist is J I Harrison and the print is number 321 of 500. The raffle will be drawn after the Chatsworth Trial on Friday, 7 November and the proceeds go to Field Trial funds.
Trophies: Those of you fortunate enough to be holding trophies, I should be very grateful if you would return them promptly.
Please don’t forget the Administration Fee introduced in 2013. This is submitted with your entry fee. All instructions are on the front page of the Schedule. Please read it carefully.
In a further effort to reduce costs and paperwork, now the new website is set up, it is planned to send schedules via email where possible. Please therefore ensure that you notify me of your email address if you have one.
All-Aged Trial – There are still no restrictions on this trial. No Field Trial qualification is required for preference in the draw.
Any entrant withdrawing from a trial may forfeit the full entry fee, if his or her place is not taken up by another competitor, except (1) Where the applicant has qualified out of Novice Stakes (where applicable) or (2) where the dog drawn to run has qualified for the Championship after entries have closed, or (3)on production of a Veterinary Certificate confirming that the dog entered for the stake is unfit to compete, or (4) On production of a Medical Certificate that the applicant or the applicant’s nominated handler is unable to compete. (5) Where the dog drawn to run is withdrawn more than 7 days prior to the stake. (Regulation J7f)
Failure to complete the entry form correctly will result in your entry being returned in your S.A.E.
This should include the correct details of dog and owner(s) as shown on the KC Registration, including the registration or stud book number.
- If you wish the results of the draw to be sent via e-mail, please ensure your email address is legible.
- Please write name of applicant on the back of cheques if using a company cheque
- Anyone receiving a run in a Novice trial will not receive preference in the draws of later Novice trials
- Please send a separate cheque for each entry fee and don’t forget the Administration Fee!
Please – no telephone calls after 9.00 pm.
Eye Clinic. This annual event will be held on Thursday, 7 August at St Joseph’s Parish Hall, Chorley. Please contact Ginette Oulton, the Show Secretary for an appointment.
Last year, our chairman, Maureen D’Arcy ran a very successful Working Gundog Certificate event. It is planned to run another one this year, with some training evenings beforehand. If you are able to help in any way, please contact either Maureen or myself.
Don’t forget to use the Puppy Register, you breeders! It’s all there on the website.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the trials this year – please remember any help and/or a raffle contribution is always welcome!
Best wishes and good luck in the trials!
(Hon. Field Trial Secretary)
